Finally, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Tuesday confirmed that an abducted health worker in Nigeria has been murdered by her captors.

The ICRC described the worker as, a 24-year-old midwife.

It could be recalled that the Nigerian Government had on Monday said that a medical aid worker held hostage since March was killed by Boko Haram insurgents after their deadline expired.

“The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) received information indicating that Hauwa Mohammed Liman has been killed by her captors in a despicable act of cruelty,” the Geneva-based aid agency said in a statement.

It noted that Liman was the second health worker killed by the captors in a month.
