Following what the APC members have always considered as not in their interest, the activities of the governors of Ogun and Imo states, Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha, The national working committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken the drastic measure to suspend them over anti-party activities.
The decision by APC for the suspension was taken at its National Working Committee meeting held on Friday in Abuja. The NWC of the party went a step further to recommend the expulsion of the duo from the party for blatant anti-party activities.
It could be recalled that both governors are currently supporting different candidates for the governorship election in their states. For instance, Okorocha, who won Orlu zone Senate seat as APC candidate in a controversial circumstance, is supporting his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu for Imo governor as candidate of Action Alliance. While in the case of Amosun, who also won a Senate seat as APC senator on Saturday, is also supporting a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Akinlade, for governor as a member of the Allied Peoples Movement.
Senator Hope Uzodinma is the APC governorship candidate in Imo State, while Prince Dapo Abiodun is the candidate in Ogun. Many accused Okorocha when an APC rally held in Owerri and attended by wife of the vice president, was invaded by AA members. Also Amosun was severely criticized in February when he flooded an APC presidential rally in Abeokuta with APM supporters. The incident almost got to an extent, the APM mob nearly stoned President Muhammadu Buhari.
