Samuel Chukwueze, the Super Eagles winger, has said that he was full of excitement about winning the Man of the Match Award, after scoring in their 2-1 win over South Africa on Wednesday.
Recall that Chukwueze netted the first goal of the game in the 27th minute, after being set up by Alex Iwobi.
After then, the Villarreal star continued to torment the Bafana Bafana backline and almost set up more goals for Gernot Rohr’s side.
His impressive display was enough, to see him win the MOTM prize.
“It’s my first tournament with the senior side and it feels good to earn a win for my team by scoring.
“It’s more special to get the MotM trophy,” he said after he was presented with the award.
Nigeria will now play the winner of the Cote DÍvoire vs Algeria quarter-final match which comes up on Thursday.
