Eleven people have been injured in a firing incident in New Orleans, USA. Two of them are reported to be critical. The shooting took place in New Orleans’ French Quarter, a popular tourist hub.

Quoting US police officials, media reports said the shooting took place around 3.00am (US local time).

News agency AFP said, “The shooting took place on a crowded commercial street near many hotels in a historic district that attracts visitors from around the world.”

So far, no casualties have been reported in this case.

“Police said they quickly responded to the incident as extra patrols were on duty for an annual Thanksgiving weekend university football game in the city,” AFP said.

“We had officers on that very block that thought they were being fired upon,” police superintendent Shaun Ferguson was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Police in a tweet said no arrests had been made. The matter is being investigated.
