Legal professional Tales: Meet Amanda Gordon

Our stand-by lawyers are an experienced and diverse group of lawyers dedicated to our mission to make the law easy and affordable. These stories give a glimpse into our lawyers' lives and show how they help our clients achieve their goals with The Attorneys Daily.

Meet Amanda

Amanda graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and attended the law school at Santa Clara University, where she graduated Magna cum Laude (top 5% of her class).

Before Amanda opened her own practice, she worked as a deputy district councilor for Santa Clara County in the Department of Health and Hospitals and other established family law firms in San Francisco.

Family law, what does that mean and why did you choose this area?

I founded my own family law practice in order to have a direct impact on individual clients.

I grew up in Palo Alto, the daughter of a mother who was a lawyer and a father who was a dentist. It took me a long time to understand the importance of your chosen professions – if you think about it, very few of us will be happy to see your dentist or lawyer. Despite their career choices, my parents always seemed happy to go to work every day, saying they loved their customer-centric work.

It wasn't until I opened my own practice in 2015 that I realized that it is a great feeling as a professional to relieve someone who is in pain, overwhelmed and stressed. I have found that I really connect with helping people during the crisis and at least giving an overview of what will happen to their case next.

The truth is that people aren't excited about the prospect of meeting with a lawyer about their divorce. My goal is to make the divorce process as rational, tailored and compassionate as possible to relieve the stress and anxiety of my clients. I know my family law clients often have a lot of concerns. For this reason, I try to use coaching, technology and transparency to make working with my office easier.

I have learned that the best part of my job is seeing the relief that clients experience when they are able to make an informed decision on difficult family law issues.

Why did you join the The Attorneys Daily On-Call lawyers network?

As a lawyer, it has been shown what difference a good lawyer can make in people's lives and how difficult it can be for ordinary people to gain access to legal services. That is why I joined the The Attorneys Daily standby network because the network is in line with my core values - the desire to keep legal services as accessible, transparent and affordable as possible.

With The Attorneys Daily, I can contact customers at a time that is most appropriate for their schedule to see if we are a good fit for you. Since The Attorneys Daily is conducting the first round of the recording, I can hold content-related discussions with customers on demand and give them real answers to their questions.

What are you doing for fun

On weekends, I spend time in Sonoma, hiking, and raising a badly behaved Labradoodle called Griffin.
