BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) – Palm Beach County Attorneys are pursuing charges against Karen Crew, Boca Raton's attorney, who was arrested earlier this month after allegedly tearing the hair of her elderly mother's head.
The crew then hired a reputation management company to remove articles about their arrest. BocaNewsNow.com was contacted by this company. The items will not be removed unless the fees are dropped.
According to a document filed with the Palm Beach County Clerk, a hearing was scheduled for December 3, 2020 with the stated purpose of "state to bring charges." The crew "must be present at this hearing," says the document. Crew kept the Diamond Kaplan and Rothstein law firm.
BocaNewsNow.com reported Nov. 3 that the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office had arrested the 47-year-old crew after they tore "a strand of gray hair" from their 76-year-old mother's head, according to police reports.
The report added this narrative written by the investigating officer.
“I went to West Boca Medical Center, where (the mother) was admitted to the emergency room. (The mother) seemed to be in pain and trembling. (She) stated that she and Karen had been arguing about her granddaughter all day. (She) said she was coming down the stairs from her granddaughter to bed when she was hit by Karen at the bottom of the stairs. (She) explained that Karen approached her furiously and immediately grabbed her hair and screamed in her face. (She) tried to pull away and Karen tore the hair out of her head and had it in her hand. (She) explained that when she tried to walk away, Karen grabbed her shoulders to turn her around, and at the same time Karen pushed her to the ground and let her fall. (She) said she was currently suffering from hip, arm and leg pain from the fall. "
"There are no independent witnesses to the actual incident, but I asked Karen's husband and he said he was in the bedroom and could hear Karen and (alleged victim) in an oral argument. Then he overheard (alleged victim) his name shouting and around Asking for help. As he ran to the area he saw (his mother-in-law) lying on the floor and Karen with her with a strand of gray hair in Karen's hand from her head (her mother). "
Karen Crew spent more than 12 hours in Palm Beach County Jail before being released at her own discretion. No contact order was placed. The full police report is below. The crew lists their address as the 10800 block of King Bay Drive in West Boca Raton, the parish of Boca Isles South.
Indictments are allegations filed by a law enforcement agency to be tried in a court of law.
